MOD Pizza Sizes and Crusts

MOD makes two pizza sizes: a 6-inch Small and an 11-inch Regular, both on thin crust. The 11-inch pizza can instead use a thick, cauliflower or gluten-friendly crust. Here's how they compare on size, calories, allergens and price. Item prices are on the complete MOD Pizza menu.

Checked against official MOD Pizza sources on .

Small vs Regular

The Regular is 11 inches across, almost twice the width of the 6-inch Small, and MOD lists its crust at 467 calories against 200 for the Small. At the checked Portland restaurant, The MOD cost $11.29 as a Small and $15.29 as a Regular.

About these prices

Prices are from the online ordering menu of MOD Pizza 122nd & Halsey (external site) (12311 NE Halsey St, Portland, OR 97230), checked on , before choosing pickup or delivery. They exclude tax, tips and any delivery fees, and aren't live prices.

Salad sizes are different

Pizza sizes are not salad sizes. MOD's national menu calls salads Mini (side), MOD (entrée) and Mega (family size). The checked online menus used Small (side salad), Regular (entrée) and Large (Feeds 2) for the same three sizes. MOD does not publish a slice count for pizzas, so this page does not invent one.

Salad prices and calories are on the salads guide.

MOD's FAQ says its regular and gluten-friendly doughs are dairy-free. The cauliflower crust is marked for milk on its allergen page.

Gluten-friendly crust: what to know

MOD lists a gluten-friendly crust as an 11-inch option with an additional charge. It is not the same as a guaranteed gluten-free crust, and MOD does not recommend any of its crusts for people with gluten sensitivity.

Gluten-friendly isn't gluten-free

MOD says it prepares food on one serving line, so it cannot guarantee that any menu item is free of allergens or gluten, and none of its crusts are recommended for people with gluten sensitivity.

On the checked menus this crust cost $3.50 more than Regular. See the nutrition and allergens guide for item-level markings.

What each crust costs

At all three checked restaurants, the thick crust cost $1.25 more than a Regular, and cauliflower and gluten-friendly crusts cost $3.50 more. The same difference applied to every pizza.

Choosing a size and crust

  • One hungry person: MOD's menu describes its pizzas as individually sized, and the Regular is the standard choice. The Small suits lighter appetites and kids.
  • Fewest crust calories: the Small thin crust (200), then the Regular thin (467).
  • Avoiding wheat: cauliflower and gluten-friendly crusts aren't marked for wheat, but read the cross-contact warning above.
  • Doughy and filling: the thick crust lists 933 calories for the crust alone, twice the Regular thin.

Then pick your sauce and toppings in the toppings and sauces guide.

Frequently asked questions

How big is a MOD Regular pizza?

11 inches across. The Small is 6 inches. Every alternative crust (thick, cauliflower and gluten-friendly) is 11 inches.

Can I get a small pizza on cauliflower or gluten-friendly crust?

Not on the checked online menus: the alternative crusts were only offered at the 11-inch size.

How many slices are in a MOD pizza?

We didn't find a slice count for pizzas on MOD's menu, FAQ or catering pages, so we don't give one. The catering page does say the Cheesy Garlic Bread is cut into 12 slices.

Is the gluten-friendly crust safe for celiac disease?

MOD says it prepares food on one serving line, so it cannot guarantee that any menu item is free of allergens or gluten, and none of its crusts are recommended for people with gluten sensitivity.
